Home Sleep Tests
Apnix is a full-service American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) sleep center. We provide many sleep disorder diagnostic solutions including:
- Testing for certain sleep-related breathing conditions such as obstructive sleep apnea and central sleep apnea.
- Diagnose hypersomnia or narcolepsy with a sleep study followed by a Multiple Sleep Latency Test (MSLT).
- Evaluate sleep behaviors related to parasomnias.
- Determine why a sleep disorder treatment isn’t working.
- Calibrate or titrate continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) levels in patients who’re receiving CPAP therapy due to a sleep-related breathing disorder.
While an in-lab sleep test is considered the gold standard for diagnosing and treating sleep disorders, Apnix does provide Home Sleep Tests which is a cost-effective and accommodating solution for those that cannot visit one of our Houston-area locations.
Why Apnix provides Home Sleep Tests
Apnix will always do what is most convenient and appropriate based on the patient’s individual necessities. We take into consideration the effectiveness of the test based on the patient’s conditions, the cost, and the convenience. We verify your benefits before engaging in a Home Sleep Test, so you know the costs up front and all the possible outcomes of the test. With our almost 2 decades of experience, as well as board certified in Sleep Medicine medical direction, you can trust that we will provide the best experience possible for your Home Sleep Test.
Why Home Sleep Tests may not provide the best results
Our mission at Apnix is to provide the best sleep disorder diagnosis and treatment solutions possible for Houston. That means that we will make serious recommendations to conduct an in-lab test instead of a Home Sleep Test. An in-lab test offers these key elements that a Home Sleep Test cannot:
- A controlled environment that’s under medical supervision.
- Ability to monitor and detect brain (EEG), eye movement (EOG), and surface electromyography (EMG).
- A one-time test. Home Sleep Tests can only ‘rule in’ sleep apnea, but not ‘rule out’, meaning that a negative Home Sleep Test will require an in-lab test to fully identify sleep disorder symptoms.
Reach out to us – you deserve to fully understand all your sleep testing options
Since 2000, the team at Apnix has worked to identify the best path in getting our patient’s healthy and sleeping well. The right diagnosis and treatment for a person’s sleep disorder can result in a massive change for their quality of life and health. Don’t wait any longer. Contact us if you have any questions about whether a Home Sleep Test is right for you.
